I believe that Terri's drumming work contributes to the social well-being of individuals with disabilities.
Terri did an excellent job ensuring that each individual was provided numerous opportunities for participating in their own unique way. I experienced this through my own observations, as well as conversations I had with support staff who found that Terri had a “natural” talent for working with people with disabilities through the medium of music. Most importantly, the supported individuals demonstrated in their responses to the drumming circles a feeling of belonging, being valued and the joy of participation. I think these are crucial indicators for social well-being. I believe that Terri's drumming work contributes to the social well-being of individuals with disabilities.
Terri also provided beneficial support to the staff that supported the different individuals that participated in the drumming circles. She taught them basic drumming techniques, possible ways of interacting with people with disabilities and generally how to have a good time. Without this support the drumming would not have been successful as it was.
